Grow impressive, delicious wine cap mushrooms right in your garden. Our 8 lb. Wine Cap Garden Grow Block is fully colonized and ready to plant outdoors in wood chip beds, in gardens between other crops, and along pathways. These vigorous outdoor mushrooms are perfect for gardeners of all experience levels and thrive in shady, consistently moist environments.
Plant in spring and, with the right conditions, you can expect your first mushrooms by early summer, with continued harvests through summer and into early fall. Wine caps are known for their fast growth, generous yields, and ability to improve soil health as they break down wood chips.
Available May 2026 — perfect timing for spring planting.

2. Prepare the Bed
Loosen the top layer of soil and spread 2–4 inches of hardwood chips (avoid cedar) or soil.
3. Add the Block
Break the grow block into chunks and distribute evenly over the prepared area.
4. Cover
Add another 2–4 inches of hardwood chips or soil to fully cover the spawn.
5. Water Well

6. Wait & Harvest
Mycelium will colonize the chips/soil over several weeks. Expect mushrooms in early summer, continuing through summer and early fall in good conditions.
